BytePlus ModelArk from outside China: signup, payment, and the USD table
BytePlus is ByteDance’s international cloud. ModelArk is the model platform on it: Seed text models, Dreamina Seedance video, Dreamina and Dola Seedream image, and Seed speech. The footer on the pages we fetched names BytePlus Pte. Ltd. This is the console to use if you are outside China and you want a USD list price. It is not the Doubao app, and we did not create an account, so nothing below is a checkout story.
What the pay-as-you-go table lists
The product page, fetched 16 Oct 2026, prints headline token rates. Several of them match the OpenRouter list for the same family on that day’s snapshot: Seed 2.1 turbo at $0.50 / $2.50, Seed 2.0 mini at $0.10 / $0.40, Seed 2.0 lite at $0.25 / $2.00, Seed 1.6 at $0.25 / $2.00, Seed 1.6 flash at $0.075 / $0.30, and Seed 2.0 Code at $0.50 / $3.00. The chart is the ModelArk input price. The extra column is the output price. Longer prompts can move the rate. The seed-1.6 model doc shows $0.25 / $2.00 up to 128k input tokens and $0.50 / $4.00 above that. The product-page headline is the short-prompt rate.

Seedance is not in that text chart. It is billed per million tokens, with a different rate when the input includes video. Seedream is per output image. Both charts are in the video and image pieces and repeated here so this page stands alone.

Seedance 1.5 pro and 1.0 pro are on the same product page with their own token rates, including an online and an offline price. They are not drawn on the 2.x chart because the line labels are not the same sentence. Seed speech is the gap: the free-trial page lists 20,000 SeedTTS characters, 20,000 characters plus one cloned voice, and 20 hours of SeedASR, for eligible new users. The pay-as-you-go table we captured does not include a Seed-TTS character price. The speech guide explains why we are not borrowing one.
Free column, read the slash
On that same product page, most Seed text ids show 500k free tokens. Dola Seed 2.1 turbo shows 500 tokens, not 500k. Seedream 4.0 and 4.5 show 200 images. Seedream 5.0 lite shows 50. Seedance 1.0 pro and 1.5 pro show 2,000k tokens. Seedance 2.x and Seedream 5.0 pro show a slash. A slash is not “unlimited,” and it is not a number we will replace. The separate offers page sells Seedance 2.5 packs at $32 for 5 million tokens, $64 for 10 million, and $640 for 100 million, valid three months, and says a purchased pack cannot be cancelled. When the pack runs out, billing returns to pay-as-you-go.
Signup and payment, from the docs only
An availability note last updated 21 Apr 2026 says ModelArk, except models tagged restricted, is offered in a long country list, that the version you get can differ by country, and that the purchase screen decides. Documentation is in English. Support languages listed there are simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, and English.
The help article dated 18 Aug 2026 says payment methods generally include credit and debit cards, a credit limit for postpaid settlement, and PayPal for selected products. It says the platform does not check that the card belongs to a business, and that some regions and card types are not fully supported. The PayPal article from the same day says PayPal does not support pay-as-you-go, so a ModelArk invoice on the default plan needs a card or a credit limit. The country table at the billing docs, last updated 18 Mar 2024, lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Maestro for places including Singapore, the UK, Germany, Japan, Australia, and Hong Kong. In the extract we read, mainland China is not a row, and the United States appears only as the United States Virgin Islands. That table is old. Believe the console if it disagrees. We did not bind a card. The wider payment guide is the same rule for the other labs.
Privacy
BytePlus’s product page talks about encryption and isolation. That is their description, not an audit. A prompt to a ByteDance model can still be a sensitive upload. Do not send secrets, customer lists, or a face you do not have a reason to send. The safety guide is the general version. The provider hub is the short one.
The price table keeps OpenRouter’s Seed text rows and does not mix Seedance or Seedream into that sort, because they are not priced per million text tokens.
Questions
Is BytePlus the same as Doubao?
No. Doubao is the consumer app. ModelArk is the international API console. We did not install Doubao, and we did not create a BytePlus account.
Can I pay with PayPal?
A help article dated 18 Aug 2026 says PayPal does not support pay-as-you-go. ModelArk's product page says the API default is pay-as-you-go. Use a card, or do not assume PayPal will clear the invoice.
