Free Chinese AI apps: a short list that refuses fake prices
“Best free Chinese AI app” pages tend to be a grid of stars and a credit number nobody dated. This one is a list of official doors, and a refusal where we did not look.
| App | What we checked | Price claim we will make |
|---|---|---|
| DeepSeek chat | Apple and Google listings | The listings describe a free assistant |
| Qwen Chat | chat.qwen.ai | Consumer site, separate from the API |
| Kimi | kimi.com and the model card | Chat exists; K3 API output is not free |
| Kling | kling.ai | No credit number stored |
| Hailuo | hailuoai.video | No credit number stored |
DeepSeek’s store pages are the strongest “free” citation we have, and they are also the product with the clearest government warnings. Free and restricted-for-offices can both be true. The app guide and the safety guide split that.
Kimi’s consumer app is not the $15 output API. Do not review the app as if it were the K3 invoice. The K3 guide is the invoice.
For video, Kling and Hailuo explain why there is no ranking yet. A ranking without a saved price grid is an ad.
If you wanted an API rather than an app, you are on the wrong page. Start at the price table.
Questions
What is actually free?
The official DeepSeek chat listings describe a free app. Qwen Chat is a consumer site. Kling and Hailuo have allowances we did not archive, so we do not rank them by price.
Which one is safest?
None of them are a place for secrets. DeepSeek has published government restrictions. See the safety guide.
